The Steam Machine is Valve’s answer to the living room: a 6-inch cube that runs SteamOS, boots straight into Big Picture and plays the Steam library you already own on the TV. Valve rates it at roughly six times the performance of a Steam Deck, and it stays quiet doing it.
Inside sits a semi-custom AMD Zen 4 processor with 6 cores and 12 threads clocking up to 4.8 GHz, paired with a semi-custom RDNA 3 GPU carrying 28 compute units and its own 8 GB of GDDR6 memory. Another 16 GB of DDR5 handles the system side. That combination targets 4K at 60 FPS with FSR doing the heavy lifting.
This is the 512 GB model, on a fast M.2 2230 NVMe drive. Storage is not a dead end either – there is a second M.2 2280 slot inside and a microSD reader on the front, so adding room later does not mean replacing the console.
The front panel carries two USB-A ports, the microSD slot and a 17-segment LED bar you can colour however you like. Around the back are DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0, two more USB-A ports, USB-C and Gigabit Ethernet, with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 on wireless duty. A 2.4 GHz radio for the Steam Controller is built in, so pairing one costs you nothing on the back panel.
Because it is a PC underneath, nothing is locked down – install what you want, plug in a keyboard and mouse, or dock it under the TV and never see a desktop. Designed and built by Valve.
